About Sa Giang
or more than 6 decades since 1960, Sa Giang brand inherited and developed from the traditional shrimp puff pastry factory founded by Mr. Le Minh Triet. With improvements in processing technology, Sa Giang branded Vietnamese shrimp puff pastry to conquer the world market. In 1970, Sa Giang won the first international award, the Silver Medal at the OSAKA fair in Japan. Before 1975 France was the main export market. After 1975, Sa Giang shrimp puff pastry factory was taken over by the state and changed into an industrial import-export company.
On December 8, 1992, Sa Giang Import-Export Company was officially established under Decision 126/QDTL of the People’s Committee of Dong Thap Province and registered for business under license No. managing activities in the field of food production and processing, foodstuffs, trading in import and export goods. Trading name is Sagimexco.
Continuously expanding capacity in stages, from 200 tons/year in the early days, up to now, the production of puff pastry is 9000 tons/year. Sa Giang has exported to more than 50 countries, constantly affirming its position as a famous specialty of Vietnam.
TIMELINE OF SA GIANG
- Established and founded by Mr Le Minh Triet, Sa Giang shrimp chips workshop was located in Sa Dec, Dong Thap, Vietnam.
- Sa Giang shrimp chips was awarded Silver Medal at OSAKA Tradeshow Japan.
- Sa Giang workshop was transformed by the government and renamed Sa Giang Industrial Import-Export Company.
- Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee decided to establish Sa Giang Import-Export Company as a state-owned enterprise.
- Successfully applied for the quality management program according to HACCP.
- Became 1 of the first 18 Vietnamese companies that were granted a CODE in order to export products to the EU market.
- The company expanded global markets improved packaging, and product quality.
- Sa Giang shrimp chips was well-known in global market such as: UK, France, USA, Japan, Korea...
- Expanded new shrimp chips workshop, increasing capacity to 800 tons/year (now called 2nd Sa Giang shrimp chips factory).
- Expanded new shrimp chips workshop, increased capacity to 2.500 tons/year with total investment capital of 17 billion VND.
- Transformed business from a State-owned company to Sa Giang Import-Export Corporation, named SAGIMEXCO.
- IPO and listed on Ho Chi Minh stock exchange with code SGC.
- Increased shrimp chips capacity to 4,500 tons/year. Established a new workshop for processing dried rice products.
- Received the Presidential Second-Class Labor Medal.
- Joined Vinh Hoan Corporation
- Established a new Sa Giang factory to focus on processing dried rice products
- Received the Presidential First-Class Labor Medal.
